A Journey of Growth & Innovation
Envirocare was founded in 2007 by Ilse Simpson at North-West University, Potchefstroom. Two years later, we earned our first accreditation for 11 microbiology methods. As our capabilities expanded, we relocated in 2012 to a larger facility on Piet Uys Street, Potchefstroom.
During this period, we launched our chemistry department and acquired our first Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) instrument. In 2016, we achieved accreditation for our chemistry methods, marking a significant milestone in our growth.
A major turning point came in 2020 when our current Managing Director, Gawie Simpson, joined the team, bringing 25 years of expertise in the corporate sector as well as in water treatment and agricultural industries. This leadership transition facilitated our move to a larger facility at 6 Du Plooy Street and strengthened our capabilities. That same year, Morne Swart rejoined Envirocare after gaining corporate sector experience.
In 2020, we also expanded our footprint into the Western Cape (SANAS T1002), further broadening our reach. The following year, we took another leap forward, moving into our newly built, state-of-the-art laboratory, designed to support our continued commitment to excellence.
